Maria Sosyan is an on-camera correspondent, writer and producer for Rogue Rocket, an independent YouTube-based news channel.
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Maria emigrated to Los Angeles at the age of 7. She earned a degree in Global Studies and Public Affairs from the University of California, Los Angeles. After college, Maria brought together her passion for the written word, film and public diplomacy by serving as Director of Outreach for documentary production house and global impact consulting agency, DEEDA Productions. Additionally, she oversaw communications for the Social Impact Media Awards, where she spearheaded the SIMA Edu program in an effort to introduce global issues to classrooms worldwide.
Having worked on campaigns for social issues abroad, Maria was inspired to get involved locally. She soon found herself managing communications and public relations for a non-profit working with at-risk youth in South Central LA.
After over a decade in the social issue sector, she decided to combine her love for current affairs and storytelling and transition into news media.
Today, she also serves as an elected representative on her local Neighborhood Council.
A lover of languages, Maria is fluent in Armenian and Russian and proficient in Spanish and Italian.
